SportsBlast BlazersMission
By accomplishing our mission, the Blazers will provide our players with additional exposure to the game of basketball thereby enhancing their opportunity to play at the high school level or beyond. Everything starts with positive attitude. Core Values* To compete at a high level Season Goals* Individual & Team Improvement on a weekly basis 2008 Team Information * The team will play at 9th & 10th Grade Age Bracket * The team will consist of 9th & 10th Graders as of Spring 2008 * The team will ideally consist of 12 to 15 players consisting of traveling and non-traveling players. * A player can elect to be on the traveling team or the non-traveling team with the non-traveling team being less expensive. * If there are more than 10 traveling players then 10 players will be selected to play prior to each tournament. * The selection process for playing consists of player availability, skill, work ethic, and attitude. * The coach will select and announce the 10 players prior to each tournament * Being selected to attend a tournament does not guarantee a player will get to play in the tournament. * The season will start in early March and end late July. * The season will tentatively consist of 10 tournaments (see schedule for dates and locations). Most of the tournament will be Saturday and Sunday with a few being Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This will and the driving distance to the tournament, allow for the parents to decide if they will be commuting to the tournament or staying at the site in hotels. * There usually will be 3 weekly practices, 2 of which are mandatory and 1 of which is optional (see practice schedule for dates and times). * The 2 mandatory practices will be about 2 hours in length, the optional practice will be about an hour long and consist of weightlifting, conditioning, and/or drills. * Uniforms (reversible jerseys, shorts and travel pack), will be provided for each player. * The estimated cost for each traveling player's participation is $550 of which $300 is due before the first practice can be attended and the balance of $250 is due April 1st (see breakdown of fees). This can come from donations, parents, etc. * The estimated cost for each non-traveling player's participation is $350 of which $200 is due before the first practice can be attended and the balance of $150 is due April 1st (see breakdown of fees). This can come from donations, parents, etc. * To supplement the income for the club one fundraiser will be held. * The team website will be the conduit for all team information.
